Happy...Happy...Happy Gingerbread day!

We've been so busy since we've been home with China I haven't had a chance to update the blog. Busy, but a happy busy. Tommy is settling in nicely, he has started a Montessori preschool and just loves it. He is picking up English very rapidly, it's really amazing!
While we've had some ups and downs during this adjustment, things have gone remarkably well. Tommy was quite frightened of our dog initially (very large, but lovable yellow lab), he now will plop right down next to the dog while watching a show. He takes a turn doing "doggy chores" and will let the dog in or out, and likes to rub his bare feet on the dogs soft back.
Attachment is progressing, and we can really see him start to trust and depend on us, he told me "Woh I nee" (I love you) the other day as I kissed him goodnight for bed, I had tears in my eyes.
Tommy has had some minor outpatient surgery on his cleft, ear tubes, two teeth extracted, and a few cavities filled. Oh, this after the immunizations! He probably thinks he has gotten the meanest mommy and daddy around.
Not to be all work, and no play, though,he has really enjoyed all of the Holidays so far. He really loved "Happy Halloween", he wasn't sure at first, but when he realized that the neighbors were just giving away candy, well, that was something! "Happy Thanksgiving" wasn't as big of a hit. He, William, C.J. and cousin Garrett nibbled dinner rolls, raised an eyebrow at the rest, and held out for pumpkin pie.
We've also had some "Happy Birthdays", and those are fun, (there's cake involved, whats not to like).
Now we're on to "Merry Christmas"! Tommy thinks everything is a "Happy Day!" We made a gingerbread house the other day, and the kids had a ball decorating it. C.J. kept swiping candy, but we did manage to salvage enough to decorate. It came out so cute.
